Keratin

Keratin hair treatments and what you need to know.

It was about a year before I eventually gave in to giving the keratin treatment a go.

I was always sceptical as I thought it would affect my natural curls, but after lengthy discussions with my girlfriends, they assured me it would only smooth them out.

Note to those who can't sit still for long periods of time (three hours), this is truly not advisable for you.. UNLESS, you go with a girlfriend, drink champagne and make a night of it... which is totally normal, right?

I left the salon with frizz free hair and my head held high.. as every woman does leaving the salon. The true test was going to be after the first wash.

To my delight, my hair dried perfectly (and smoothly) naturally! Which is amazing because I have absolutely zero ideas of how to blow dry my hair nicely so in the past would always let it air dry until I could straighten it.

Downside to note - every time I washed my hair, it would smell a little weird when it was wet? This probably lasted about 5 or so washes and then went back to normal. Apparently this has to do with the animal products in the keratin treatment.

The only other downside to mention was that I now had to wash my hair every two days as opposed to every three days. But you know what? I can totally live with that if I can save myself time styling it!

Overall, I highly recommend this treatment.
