Skincare Bible

I am a massive skincare advocate. Mecca has been my addiction for as long as I’ve been able to afford it.. kidding, I was totally buying it all long before I could afford it.

After having worked for various cosmetic companies and trialling different products, I know what I like and what I don’t like.

My worst is having the store sales woman follow me around trying to explain everything to me. I like to take my time, read about each product, feel them and smell them and come to my own conclusion.

Only now, after having Ruby, am I really noticing the early signs of aging on my skin.

I have serious pigmentation from years of not wearing sunscreen on my face (rookie move, Laura) and my pores appear to be bigger. The fine lines are mostly around my eyes (I put it down to smiling so much for Ruby) and also on my forehead.

As soon as I find the time, I’m going to start a series of microdermabrasions (for the pores, pigmentation and radiance), as well as a few photorejuvenation treatments to really target the pigmentation and it should help a little with the fine lines.

For the time being, I’ve adapted my skincare regime to suit my current needs. This is my current routine.

AM:

•By Terry Dual Exfoliation Scrub - I apply this to a dry face. As you scrub, the gel becomes an oil. It’s the best. I then leave it on for a few minutes to let the oil soak in and then wash it off in the shower.

•By Terry Hydra Toner - I apply this to my face with a cotton round. I love how clean my skin feels afterwards!

•By Terry Anti Pollution Serum - this serum brightens, soothes and evens out the skin. It acts as a great barrier for daily pollutions.

• Dermalogica SPF50 Pure Light Moisturiser - This is a lightweight sunscreen which I LOVE as I’ve avoided wearing face sunscreens for years because they always make me break out. It also helps target pigmentation spots and helps to brighten the skin.

• Eve Lom Eye Cream - this Cream feels so smooth and helps to diminish dark circles, reduce puffiness and lock in moisture.

PM:

• Dermalogica special cleansing gel - this is a great cleanser and feels like my skin is being thoroughly cleaned! If I’ve worn a heavy foundation, I cleanse once to remove the makeup and then cleanse a second time to make sure I’ve cleansed my skin properly.

• By Terry Hydra Toner - I apply this to my face with a cotton round. I love how clean my skin feels afterwards!

• Tatcha Deep Hydrating Firming Serum - this is quite a luminous serum and you only need a small amount to go a long way.

• La Mer Moisturising Cream - this moisturiser is heaven in a jar. You only need the smallest amount because a little goes a long way! Also, it’s outrageously expensive so try and save your penny’s. I’ve only recently started using this and am curious to see the results. So far so good though, it has cleared up a dry patch on my skin which is prone to being stubborn!

• Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Cream - this is light weight for the eye area and helps with dark circles and puffiness (great if you have a baby).

Last but not least, after I’ve brushed my teeth both morning and night, I ALWAYS use the By Terry Baume De Rose lip balm. It’s heaven. You should buy one.

Weekly:

• Face Mask: I have a variety of face masks that I choose from to do once a week. I believe it’s important to keep up with the masks but change weekly dependent on your skins needs at the time (hydration/radiance/pores/acne etc).

• Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery Eye Masks - I swear by these eye masks. I notice such a difference after having used them. My eye area always feels so refreshed, hydrated and radiant. I use any excess serum on my face/décolletage. They are especially great when travelling after a long flight!
